Emirates Legal is licensed as a Legal Consultancy in FFTZ in the UAE (since 2009), in the AIFC Kazakhstan, (since 2019), and as an Advisory Firm in Kampala, Uganda (since 2020). It is authorized to conduct proceedings before the DIFC Courts (Dubai), ADGM Courts (Abu-Dhabi), AIFC Courts (Astana-Nur-Sultan). Our counsels have the right of audience before all three courts in all 3 jurisdictions. In the UAE, we instruct local law firms in respect of the civil and criminal proceedings in all 7 Emirates. Additionally, our counsels also appear in the Indian courts. We are the first UAE law firm to file enforcement proceedings in the Indian Courts in respect of two judgments of the DIFC Courts under the Judicial Cooperation Treaty that became effective in early 2020.
In the UAE, we have advised several large corporations on infrastructure projects, as well as those corporations that want to use UAE as a base to do business with Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Eastern Europe. In collaboration with MESA Management, we have incorporated several hundred companies in the UAE and advised clients on the best available structures in almost 44 UAE free zones based on their needs and requirements. Over the past 11 years, we have strengthened our dispute resolution practice, evidenced by our success in over 28 UAE seated arbitrations. Our firm has argued some of the bench-mark cases before the DIFC Courts, as well as successfully managed litigation before the Dubai Courts through local counsel.
On the corporate advisory side, we represent some of the leading corporations in the UAE. We have advised on several large-scale joint venture projects within and outside of the UAE. We have structured several cross-border deals and advised clients about the structures available in the UAE for doing business, effectively and efficiently. Overall, we have advised our clients on almost all federal aspects of the applicable laws in the UAE.
We are the first law firm from the Middle East and South Asia to establish a full-fledged law office in the AIFC in Kazakhstan. We have incorporated several companies, as well as recently advised a large foreign corporation on the setting up of a cement plant. We are advising our foreign clients on various legal structures in respect of doing business in Kazakhstan, using the AIFC.
In Uganda, we are advising clients in respect of projects relating to infrastructure, mining, and setting up of industrial plants. Our 3 offices are virtually connected and lawyers in all 3 jurisdictions work alongside each other on various cross-border deals.
